Melody Jackson
Professor
melody.moore@cc.gatech.edu
Dr. Jackson is the Director of the Georgia Tech Animal-Centered Computing Lab, whose mission is to investigate ways that technology can enhance partnerships between humans and animals such as dogs, horses, dolphins, elephants, and sea otters. Through wearable systems and environmental devices, they are creating technologies for animal communication, health monitoring, behavioral quantification, and enrichment. Dr. Jackson has extensive experience training dogs and horses; she is a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) and has raised five service dog puppies for Canine Companions for Independence. She is also an active competitor in dog agility and canine scentwork. She received an Impact Award for her research from the Georgia Tech GVU center, and also a ten-year Impact award from the International Symposium on Wearable Computing (ISWC) for her team’s Animal-Computer Interaction research. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health (NINDS), NIDRR, DARPA, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
